I finally completed the Principles of UX/UI Design, one of the final mini-courses in my long series of taking the Meta Front-end web development course on Coursera.
I have already covered most of the UI and design principles in my other posts here, but this will go over the final assignment and any other parts of the mini-course that I have neglected to mention before.
The peer-reviewed assignment revolved around the main subject of the lessons: Little Lemon, a restaurant based in Chicago. It needed a feature to reserve tables ahead of time on its mobile app.

Part of the assignment included a persona, which is a fictional character that’s based around real users and feedback and essentially humanizes the person around whom you’re focusing your development. With a full description, such as where they grew up, their hobbies, how tech literate they might be, etc.
Most of the design work was done in Figma, using actual ideas from templates I found online and fictional stories made up randomly. I also found the Nielsen Norman Group super helpful for references and general guidelines for most assignments.

While searching for ideas on the table reservation design itself, I found a fascinating blog by Jasmine Jones. In it, she covers different experiences at companies and designing featuress around UX and the challenges they present, along with lessons learned. One such blog post I found the most interesting was about Zillow’s (no longer existing) self-tour feature and the case studies done with it.
Most of the design itself was inspired by starbucks as that was one of the only platforms I could think of that does mobile transactions seamlessly.

You can view my final project submission here, which includes the persona, journey map, wireframe. And interact with my prototype below:
